An implantable loop recorder is a heart-monitoring device that
continuously records heart rhythm for up to three years and allows
remote assessment via a small device inserted just beneath the
skin of the chest. It is used as a diagnostic tool, and does not
provide pacemaker or ICD support.
An implantable loop recorder allows for long-term heart rhythm
monitoring. The most common uses include assessing fainting,
palpitations, very fast or slow heartbeats, and infrequent
arrhythmias.
Loop recorders need to be monitored via a remote transmitter.
Lev Diagnostics identifies what loop recorder the patient has,
then will request the transmitter from the manufacturer and set up
the monitoring for the patient. The reports will be sent to the
facility and the patient's physician.
